My Story

One Christmas my father brought home a kart for my brother. He didn't have much interest in it but for some reason it caught my eye.  I jumped in it and after a few laps around the neighborhood  I was begging to go to the track.

At the age of 14 I began my driving career starting with four cycle karting in the Junior category.

At 16 I had saved enough money to buy my first car , a Porsche 944. I was determined to learn how to drive a 5 speed manual gearbox right from the word Go!

My Progression

After a few four cycle events I got hooked on speed and seat time. My dad realized that we could get twice as many laps at the track if I entered in multiple classes. A second kart was purchased and I was now entering in Junior 4 cycle and Junior 2 cycle events.

After a few years in Junior, I moved up to the super competitive Senior classes for both 2 and 4 cycle categories.

I am currently a member of two karting clubs, Vancouver Island Karting Association and Westcoast Kart Club in Chilliwack BC.

My Motorsport/Automotive Career

Coachwerks Restorations

  • I am currently employed at Coachwerks Restorations where I am   completing   my mechanics apprenticeship. We specialize in European restorations of Mercedes, gullwing models, air cooled Porsches, Ferraris, Lamborghinis  and more  .
  • Coachwerks Restorations is owned by the Gain group who also owns my home track, the Vancouver Island Motorsports Circuit. A track designed by  Tilke Engineers & Architects.
  • I  came into this profession by way of karting. My father wouldn't let me just drive the kart, I had to understand the kart so I could communicate with him what changes in setup I needed. He had me involved in new chassis assembly, axle swaps, laser alignments, engine teardowns, and other aspects of karting like understanding gear ratios. My hands-on experience with karts led me to discover automotive repair and restoration.
